Key Features
The original Melodrive offering was “one of the first AI systems to compose emotional and unique music in real time. The AI generates music by adapting to the media environment and aims to match the mood and the style of the video.”5
Infinite Album’s focus is copyright-free, generative AI music for gamers and livestreamers on platforms like Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok. They provide a stream of music and sound effects that react to the gameplay for supported games. In this sense, it’s more for creating personalized functional music than for generating new musical melodies (our interest in this article series).
A key value proposition for Infinite Album users is that viewers on Twitch can interact with the track to change genre or emotion or add sounds.
Training Data & Technology
Their site states that “Our music is completely generated by our proprietary AI engine. It consists of models that generate the composition and how the instruments are performed and produced, all in real time, infinitely. … We train on open source music models along with some fairy dust from our AI engineers, who are all musicians. The instruments we use are licensed from commercial libraries specifically for this purpose.” This is consistent with their Fairly Trained certification.
Ownership, Usage Rights, & Pricing
Infinite Album “offers artists unprecedented opportunities to expand their musical footprint into gaming while bypassing sync license deals, which can be a barrier to entry”. They work with artists to help them get their music into the gaming industry and “share our revenue with them when their music is used”. They offer two plans to users:
“Gold” - free with ads, for non-commercial use only (ok for content creators and livestreamers). Users can create endless streams of AI music “Vibes”, save up to 10 custom Vibes, share Vibes with other users, and get real-time music reactions to game events for supported games
“Platinum” - $7.99/month - Gold minus ads, plus: save unlimited Vibes, mash up musical styles, get uncompressed audio samples, customize how the music reacts to gameplay, and have access to advanced technical tools for producing livestreams.
