4 AI music companies in Asia: quick looks [Unfair Use? series, PART 3]
Profiles on BandLab, ByteDance, HYBE/Supertone, and Tencent Music Entertainment and how their music offerings use generative AI
With some exceptions, information in English can be sparse about generative AI companies in China, Korea, Singapore, and other Asian countries. This limits our ability to accurately assess ethical risks.
They shouldn’t be overlooked, though. They have partnerships with major music labels, and two of these companies are unicorns with over 100 million users each.
This post links to summaries of what’s known as of June 2024 about four leading Asian companies in AI-generated music (BandLab, ByteDance, HYBE/Supertone, Tencent Media Entertainment). Updates will follow as more information becomes known or new product announcements are made.
